9 Ball is played with balls 1 through 9. Balls must be pocketed in ascending order. The player who pockets the 9-ball wins the game.

Contact rule
The cue ball must always contact the lowest-numbered ball on the table first.

Combination
If the 9-ball is pocketed via a legal combination (after contact with the lowest ball), it is an immediate win.

Fouls
On a foul, the incoming player has ball-in-hand anywhere on the table.

Push out
After the break, the player may call a "push out" and play without following normal rules. The opponent may then refuse or accept the position.
